New prescription charge from 1st April Posted or Updated on 25 May 2023

The NHS Prescription Charge is £9.15 for each item collected after April 1st 2020

Some items may have more than one charge, eg elastic hosiery; a member of the dispensary team will explain if that is the case.

The NHS prescription charge is a contribution to the NHS; it is not a payment to the surgery or its dispensary and it is not related to the cost of your medicine(s).

If you need at least 4 prescriptions in three months or at least 12 prescriptions a year, you could save money with a Prescription Prepayment Certificate. Ask a member of your dispensary team for more details.

Prescriptions are free for some people - ask a member of your dispensary team for advice or visit www.nhs.uk/healthcosts
